Datastory’s work recognized at 2020 Esri Federal GIS Conference

Earlier this month, the Datastory team made our way to Washington, D.C. for the 2020 Esri Federal GIS Conference. The event is one of the biggest of its kind in the country, hosting thousands of GIS users in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors every year.

In addition to showcasing Esri product updates and live demos, the conference’s plenary sessions highlighted government agencies and nonprofit organizations that are using GIS technology in especially innovative ways.

We were honored to have our recent work with the YMCA recognized during one of the keynote addresses. Rick Snell, YMCA’s Vice President of Strategy, Insights & Product Development, showed the audience how our MapDash™ technology allows local and regional YMCA associations to see, understand, and respond to demographic shifts and better serve their communities.

“Communities are changing, and they’re changing dramatically – and the way that we serve them has to change as well. … At a local level, we’re going to need a deeper understanding of our communities. And with our partner Datastory, we’re able to provide an application to our local leaders that does just that.” -Rick Snell, Vice President of Strategy, Insights & Product Development, YMCA

Watch Rick’s keynote below:

Afterwards, we caught up with some of our strategic partners – including none other than Esri President Jack Dangermond.

We appreciate events like the Federal GIS Conference not only for the opportunity it gives us to catch up with colleagues, but also to gain new inspiration from the work other organizations are doing and share our own contributions. Thanks to Rick and his team at the YMCA for endorsing our work and its potential to impact local communities, and to Esri for their continued partnership.
